The Importance of Being A Doer of The Word | Tip of The Month

Hey Reader,

Prayerfully, you are well and staying encouraged this August.

Today, I have the Tip of The Month! Take a read over it and send me a reply if it was helpful at delphinepkirklandbooks@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you.

In college, I met many professors and Bible scholars teaching and preaching the Word of God. I didn’t attend a seminary school, but I did take a few Bible courses, and it just so happened that most of my professors were in the ministry or pastors of churches in the community.

I must admit that I was a novice in the Word then, but thanks to what my father taught me in at-home Bible study and at the church I was attending, I had some knowledge of God and His commandments. I would love to hear the professors quote scriptures from memory so eloquently.

However, I noticed after school hours that some of my professors were saying inappropriate things, going into buildings that I only expected sinners to enter, and behaving like sinners. I was confused, and I began to pray.

If you want answers, talk to God.

I didn’t want to judge so I asked God to show me scriptures to support what I feeling and thinking.

As I prayed, He revealed these scriptures to me –

"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;..."
- James 1:22-25 (NKJV)

46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
Luke 6:46-49 (KJV)
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

John 14:21 (KJV)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV)

I know only God is perfect and we all have fallen short at times, but that doesn’t give us a license to continue in sin or willfully sin. When God revealed those scriptures to me, I wanted to be real in serving Him. I wanted to live a life that was pleasing to God and not shame Him or make a mockery of God.

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

John 4:23-24 (KJV)

My prayer is to be a true worshipper and servant of Christ. I want to love God with all my heart, mind, and soul. My hope is to be a light to sinners and not give them reasons to second-guess my salvation – when my life doesn’t align with the Word of God. I don’t want to just read or hear God’s word but be a doer and obey His word. How about you?

Be blessed, God’s people.

I’m praying for you!

Hello Reader, When you think of yourself as a mother, what comes to mind first? Perhaps the meals you cook, the lessons you teach, or the sacrifices you quietly make. God has indeed called mothers to live natural lives—as wives, mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, and more. But I want to ask you a deeper question: Have you ever asked God what your spiritual role is as a mother? It is easy to get caught up in the day-to-day demands of motherhood and forget that God chose you for something...

We are here to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and to live fully surrendered to Him. God is looking for vessels who are completely sold out for Him.
